Seasonal fruits and vegetables for a healthier life :)

I heard about seasonal food but no one could ever told me exactly wich ones they were. I searched for some tables and made a list of the seasonal fruits and vegetables I like per month so I can consult this post, later!

Welcome New Year! I really hope you are greater than your older brother! So, I am welcoming you with a brand new theme at my blog, again! I guess my theme changes with the season or at least I try to do so. I like this theme because it is simple and makes you to concentrate in reading or, in my case, in writing. That’s cool.

But today I will not talk about the theme of my blog, I want to talk about something I realise yesterday and I think it is this kind of topics people love to talk about but mostly they do not know a thing (plus, it is about something I promised me).

Seasonal fruits and vegetables

Every doctor, friend, colleague, counselor, etc., when talking about diets, they always tell you to eat more fruits and vegetables. Until here, we all agree on everything. We do not even ask why, and that’s ok. We believe it. We try to do it. We are all cool. But then, they start to giving you more and more advises of WHY you should eat fruits and vegetables and WHICH ONES you have to eat.

The WHY is most of the time BECAUSE Mother Nature is wiser than me, than you, than us, so she created cycles and fruits and vegetables. Your body fits in this cycle, so when you eat these fruits and vegetables, you take care of your body with the most natural way.

But then comes the WHICH ONES. They say that the best food to consume are Seasonal fruits & vegetables, not only for the health of our bodies but because the health of our wallets.

And this is when most of they shut up. Hello? I know you said Seasonal fruits & vegetables but which ones are they? Are you talking about seasons or months? Are you talking about American seasons or Latin American ones? Can I even try to plant some carrots in January, you know, to start dieting and saving money soon? Am I the only one who did not know which fruit and vegetable are from what season or month?

I am deeply sorry but in my school, they only taught me about the Pyramid Food. And that just confused me even more about what seasonal fruits and vegetables are!

So, after knowing all above, I start looking for some seasonal fruits and vegetables tables and start my 2013 being healthier and wiser. I found a table made by Kellog’s and another by a vegan blogger.

I know every country has a different type of ground, climate, temperature and stuff but I searched for Mexican tables (I am a Salvadoran but Mexico is the country I am living in). Also, I’m just writing the fruits and vegetables I know I like, because this is the post I will consult the next few years. 🙂
