I created my first successful product in just 10 days. I realized the creation process is as valuable as the product itself and I want to share it. Welcome to the Making-of The Mini-Guide for Writing a Super Complete Post in 20 Minutes. ❤
This post is part of the new series on my blog, the Making-of The Mini-Guide! (All the chapters are here).
The Real Work: When’s the time to start creating my product?
The time to start creating my product is now.
Until today, I told you how to take certain decisions to avoid future obstacles.
But today is the day I’ll focus on actually creating the product. Or in my case, actually writing my book. What does a writer do? To write. Today is that day.
If I could say where I am in the creation – production – marketing and sales road, I’d definitely say I’m in the middle. In the production. As I’ll take care of the marketing and sales, I already did a lot by preparing all the doubts that might appear in the begining and there’s still a lot to do.
But I have come to the stage that I cannot do anything else if I don’t have a product. There’s nothing I can do, right now, besides writing my book.
The good thing of taking care of everything before the actual writing is, by the time you have everything figured out, the writing becomes easier. If my only job is to write today, the book is doable. It will take less time than before.
Almost nobody says how many days they took to actually write a book. But I found an interesting number in Thus Spake Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche. The first part was written in 10 days. The second part was written in 11 days.
A book of that calibre can be made in less than a month, specially if you took care of distractions and doubts already!
If you ever felt like you wanted to be like one of those great writers who could take their typewriter and just write for days until they’re done, well, today is that day.
There’s a lot of ways of writing a book but there’s only one thing you can do to write a book. Write.
I’m more like a structural kind of writer, so I had it written in my head already. I started by the index (yes, I wrote the index before), and then took topic by topic until I had all the words in that Google Doc I talked before in the right platform chapter.
But you’re a creator as well, you might have already the way to do your own project. Some writers like to just start their story and see where their imagination takes them. And that’s ok! We’re doing the same exact thing with our own style: we’re writing.
And that’s what you should do today.
This post is part of the new series on my blog, the Making-of The Mini-Guide where I share everything I know about writing books! (If you want to read all the past chapters go here).
The Mini-Guide for Writing a Super Complete Post in 20 Minutes was created under the Small Product Lab July 2015 hosted by Gumroad. I’m forever grateful with Gumroad and Small Product Lab for those 10 days.
